The Foxborough Police Department’s School Resource Officers (SROs) fulfill a broad range of responsibilities encompassing school-based initiatives, community engagement, patrol duties, juvenile court proceedings, and other administrative functions. Consistent with departmental policy and state regulations, SROs are not employed by the school district and do not serve as disciplinarians for student handbook or school-related infractions. Rather, they operate as specialized law enforcement liaisons, working in close partnership with school administrators, faculty, students, and families to enhance campus safety, foster positive relationships, and support the overall safety and well-being of students, and the broader school community.
The Foxborough Police SROs are all fully sworn, fully certified police officers received specialized training and maintain an additional certification with the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission, which allows them to work in Massachusetts schools. In addition to collaborating with the schools, the SROs assist the Patrol Division with crimes committed by and against children.
